Amsterdam, a city renowned for its picturesque canals and cultural diversity, played host to the highly anticipated Laracon EU 2024 (Feb 5-6). The Muziekgebouw Amsterdam provided the perfect setting for this annual gathering of Laravel PHP developers from around the world.

It was our second Laracon as a team -- after Lisbon 2023, we knew this was an event we did not want to miss again. Amsterdam is Laracon's home turf, and the Muziekgebouw right on the IJ waterfront, with its modern architecture and waterside views, set the perfect tone for two intensive conference days.

Laracon EU is far more than just a conference; it is an opportunity to network with peers, forge new connections, and draw inspiration from fellow developers. This year was no exception, and the atmosphere was buzzing with energy and enthusiasm.

The talks covered an impressive range of topics. Christoph Rumpel spoke about advanced testing strategies -- a subject close to our hearts at Laramate, because automated testing is the backbone of maintainable software. Tobias Petry delivered one of the most technically deep presentations with "Scaling Databases" -- his insights into query optimization and indexing strategies have directly influenced our project work. And the eagerly awaited release talk on Laravel Pulse showcased where monitoring in the Laravel ecosystem is headed.

Another highlight was Roman Pronskiy's talk on the PHP Foundation -- an organization ensuring that PHP as a language continues to evolve in the long term. For us as an agency that is 100% committed to the PHP/Laravel stack, this is an important signal: the technology at the core of our work has a healthy future. The absolute highlight, of course, was Taylor Otwell's keynote on the new Laravel 11. The simplified project structure, revamped routing, and new health check features had the community buzzing -- and are already making their way into our new projects.

All talks were recorded and are available on the Laracon YouTube channel. If you could not attend, you can catch up on the content for free -- the talks by Tobias Petry and Taylor Otwell are especially recommended.

The talks have been uploaded to the Laracon YouTube channel and are now freely available.

As a team, Laracon EU 2024 was one of our most valuable investments of the year. Not just because of the talks, but because of the conversations that followed: debating architecture decisions, exchanging package recommendations, and learning from the experiences of other Laravel teams. This knowledge feeds directly into our client projects -- and is exactly why we keep coming back every year.

And of course, a selfie with Taylor Otwell is a must!
