Filament vs. Laravel Nova
Nova was the standard Laravel admin panel for years, built by Taylor Otwell. The difference: Nova requires a paid per-developer license, Filament is open source. Functionally, Filament has overtaken Nova with a more active community, more plugins, and a modern Livewire architecture. We have migrated Nova projects to Filament, reducing both license costs and development time.
Filament vs. EasyAdmin
EasyAdmin is the most popular admin bundle for Symfony. Solid for simple CRUD interfaces, but limited when it comes to complex dashboards with custom widgets or interactive real-time elements. Filament offers a level of reactivity via Livewire that EasyAdmin cannot match.
Filament vs. custom UI
You can always build every admin interface from scratch. But why? Filament provides forms, tables, filters, widgets, charts, notifications, and role management out of the box. Custom UI only makes sense when requirements are so unique that no component system fits — and that is rare in practice.
